Stick Shifts: Foods on a Stick Taking Over DC
Kababji
When you walk into this Lebanese eatery, you're greeted by a glass case filled with kebabs ready to be thrown on the wood-fired grill. "We believe that you eat with your eyes," says Chief Operating Officer of Kababji USA. "And we want to show off that we've got great kebabs." The meat-filled skewers are made fresh every morning by an on-site butcher and cooked to order. There are more than a dozen options on the menu ($15-$22). A standout is the kebbeh — ground beef mixed with pistachios, roasted pine nuts and cracked wheat, then seasoned with spices such as cumin, allspice and cardamom.
